Objective

To work with new families by offering quality newborn care, postpartum, education, breast feeding support, sleep teaching and information on newborn related issues.  My focus will be to provide attentive, loving, supportive help to expanding families.

Gentle Blessing Newborn Care Specialist Training- Los Angeles, CA October 13-17 2016

This intensive 4 day training was for the Master Newborn Care Specialist and experienced Postpartum Doula. Topics covered were PPD, Bereavement, Chiropractic, Preemies, Business, Natural Remedies, Multiples, Cultures.

Breastfeeding 101 Class-Phoenix, AZ - Blossom Birth Center August 22, 2017

This class detailed such topics as; benefits and barriers in breastfeeding, anatomy and physiology, growth and development of the infant, history and breastfeeding around the world, problems and concerns, positioning, multiples and medications with breast milk. It was taught by an IBCLC who showed me how to help support new mothers while breastfeeding.

Newborn Care Solutions Advanced Newborn Care Specialist Training- Phoenix, AZ January 22-23 2016

This intensive weekend for the advanced NCS included such topics as sleep conditioning techniques, working with multiples, high profile clients, infant brain development, car seat techniques and safety, breastfeeding and formula alternatives, difficulties in the NCS world, alternative care options for common infant ailments, working with special needs; cleft palette, feeding tubes, and speciality devices. The class also included care and understanding of premature newborns and better business practices.

Certificate of attendance earned. Once certified I can provide evidence based information to the community, families and professionals to encourage an increase in breastfeeding support and longevity in nursing. Supporting mom with breastfeeding; pumping and washing bottles. Mother was having trouble producing breast milk
Discussed milestones for her daughter's age. Feeding breast milk, burping, and soothing her. 
Diapering, personal hygiene and bathing. Swaddled for naps and sleep time. Helped and advised on sleep training
Kept track of eating schedule, mood changes, sleep and diaper changes. 
Took baby out in Bjorn around hotel for walks and fresh air. Practiced safety measures at hotel

He was born via cesarean due to heart deceleration @ 37 weeks and weighed 6 lbs. 15 ounces.
Umbilical cord wrapped around his neck 2 times. Spent one week in NICU.
Shopping for baby and organizing the nursery/baby’s bathroom prior to arrival.
Supporting mom after cesarean with the new addition to the family. Helped with sibling interaction in a blended family.
Feeding Similac Advance formula and changing to another form due to gas using Dr. Brown system, burping, and swaddling him.
Washing, sanitizing, preparing bottles, folding and putting away children’s laundry. Diapering, personal hygiene and bathing.

Worked with mom and family on creating a schedule and educated her on swaddling, sleep training, newborn issues etc.

Long distance travel to their other homes for weeks and a month traveling via plane and car.

Supporting with Luke’s severe reflux and helping soothe him when he became uncomfortable with this.
Luke was being given a high dosage of Prilosec.

Taking Kyla to story-time at the local library walks in the stroller, driving Sydney to school and to the park,
Attending wellness appointments with Mom.  Reading, talking and preparing age appropriate activities for both children.
Diapering and bathing Kyla and Sydney. Getting Sydney ready for school. Child related errands.
Journaling Kyla’s day time feedings, diaper changes, activities, moods and any changes.
Comply with the child-rearing and discipline policies of the parents.
